Arsenic Remediation with Dried Plant

Soak Time Experiment

For the soak time experiment, we want to analyze for 2 things:

  • How many time can the adsorbent be reused?
  • And does it release arsenic back to the water over a period of time?

  • Water hyacinth and duckweed were selected as the adsorbents for this experiment.

    Water Hyacinth Duckweed

We prepared three 100ml samples of contaminated water. Each were separately soak with duckweed as the adsorbent at various time and the results are as follow:

The duckweed experiment results were the similar to water hyacinth. The adsorption level is phenomenal even with just a small amount of adsorbent. But again, more tests are needed to determine how much can it sustain.
